Advanced marine aquarium filtration system

Filtration in a marine aquarium consists of several stages. Glossy Marine comes equipped with a complete system with equipment that takes care of keeping the water clean. Purified water passes through 5 chambers:

1. Chamber one – comb and cone filter: Water flows through an opening, shielded by a ribbed casing (comb), which in the first stage retains larger impurities (e.g. food residues, sediments). Then the water flows into a special filter (the so-called ”sock”), made of durable nylon material. Here a thorough mechanical filtration of fine particles takes place.
2. The second overflow chamber – a place for additional elements: Another chamber is left empty – this is a place for an optional heater to ensure temperature stability, or for additional electronic components for control, such as a pH probe or thermostat.

3. Chamber three – protein skimmer: the Glossy Marine kit includes a professional proteinskimmer, indispensable in a marine aquarium. The device sucks in water along with air and mixes them together in a reaction chamber. This creates a thick foam to which organic contaminants attach. The foam is then pushed into a special cup located on top of the device, where the impurities are collected and removed from the aquarium. Such a mechanism prevents the formation of harmful compounds and keeps the water clean.

1. Chamber four – baskets for loose media: It contains four baskets with space for loose media – ceramic or chemical. The starter kit includes BioCeraMAX 600 ceramic, which takes care of water purification and is also a habitat for the growth of beneficial nitrifying bacteria. The filter media can be freely replaced with others, such as ZeoMAX Plus, PhosMAX or Carbomax, depending on the needs of the aquarium.
2. Chamber five – the circulator in the retention chamber: The circulator is placed on the bottom on a stand with four strong suction cups. Its task is to give movement to the water and pump it back into the aquarium. The purified water from this chamber is pumped upward through a flexible tube, and then through a ball outlet terminated with a flat tip, it returns to the circulation. The outlet allows you to adjust the direction and extent of the outflow, resulting in even water movement throughout the aquarium, crucial for anemones and corals. The tube has a wide outlet tip, so the outflow provides a gentle water current. If necessary, the tube can be shortened or additional elements can be attached (optional).

The retention chamber is equipped with a functional scale. It informs how much water has evaporated and by how much water should be replenished. The volume is given in liters and gallons, making the scale universal for users of different metric scales.

The filter chambers (except for the chamber with the skimmer) have lids with round holes for easy access during maintenance. The lids protect against unnecessary sedimentation and contribute to the aesthetics of the tank. Safety valves prevent water from spilling out if the chambers become clogged, ensuring safe water circulation.

Protein skimmer – the heart of filtration in a marine tank

A protein skimmer is a key piece of marine aquarium equipment that removes organic contaminants such as food debris, fish feces and other substances before they begin to decompose and negatively affect water quality.Its mechanism involves mixing water with air thanks to a needle rotor. As a result of this process, a dense foam is produced, to which any protein contaminants are attached. Then the impurities, along with the foam, are pushed into a special container located on top of the skimmer. Thanks to the work of the skimmer, proteinaceous deposits are removed before they begin to decompose, preventing the formation of harmful compounds and keeping the water clean.

The skimmer attaches to a strong magnet, allowing it to be conveniently and precisely located at the right height.

Safe Tank Technology Glass

The front and side windows of the tank are made with Opti glass. Such glass has undergone a de-glazing process, eliminating the greenish tint and ensuring crystal clarity and high light transmission. Polished edges give an aesthetic finish. The elegance of the tank is enhanced by a black frame and careful bonding with black silicone.

The proprietary Safe Tank technology, developed by Aquael, is based on laminating two glass panels with an ultra-thin transparent film. Such treatment prevents the immediate leakage of water in case of glass breakage. In the event of damage, the glass forms a characteristic ”spider web”, but remains airtight, giving time for the safe transfer of aquarium inhabitants. Importantly, Safe Tank technology does not affect the clarity of the glass. You can enjoy the excellent clarity and vivid colors of the internal arrangement.

Dedicated Glossy Marine cabinet

A dedicated Glossy Marine cabinet has been created for the set, providing an elegant finish and practical storage space for accessories (Note: The cabinet is not included in the set, it must be purchased separately).

The Glossy Marine cabinet is ideally sized to fit the aquarium (60×58.5 cm) with a height of 87 cm, which allows you to conveniently service the tank and display it properly. Made of glossy MDF panels covered with acrylic, it has a single door flush with the aquarium’s front glass for a harmonious and elegant look. Adjustable feet allow for precise leveling, and the interior of the cabinet provides space for accessories and technical equipment. The high-quality black finish emphasizes the modern design, making the set a central decorative element of the room.

Proper light influences the development, condition and health of marine organisms, as well as the aesthetics of the tank and bringing out the colors of corals or fish.
