FLOW HEATER BT
INTELLIGENTLY CONTROLLED FLOW HEATER
Flow Heater BT is a flow heater that can be controlled by a mobile device. Special technology keeps an eye on heating smoothly and the temperature is precisely set. Mounted on the outside of the aquarium, it does not take up space inside and increases the freedom of arrangement.
The same heater for different aquarium capacities and fish that like different temperatures? With Flow Heater BT it is possible!
Thanks to a special technology, you program the heater to the right wattage in 50 watt increments. Thanks to this, with one device you will provide comfort to animals with different heat needs. You can set the temperature in half degree Celcius increments from 20 to 33 degrees Celcius.
Launch and control
Turn your phone or tablet into a mobile command post for your aquarium equipment! You’ll connect the Flow Heater BT via Bluetooth and control it with the dedicated AQUAEL BT app. All you need to do is download the app from the App Store or Google Play. The operation of the app itself is intuitive and very clear.
On the housing of the heater there are LEDs, the glowing of which informs about the status of the device’s operation. The white light indicates POWER, and the green light is STATUS. After pairing your Flow Heater BT with your mobile device, the blue BLUETOOTH LED will light up. The heater is then ready for use. The STATUS LED pulsing green means that the heater is reheating the water to the set temperature. To perform a restart of the device, press and hold the button on the housing before inserting the device into the power supply and at the same time turn the heater on. This will bring the heater back to factory settings.
Bluetooth app support
The Aquael BT app gives you a wide range of possibilities to use the control capabilities via the app.
In fixed mode, you will set a specific temperature and maximum power of the heater. You can also check the current temperature on your phone, as well as historical indications
Day&Night mode gives you an even wider range of possibilities. In the app you can freely set the day and night temperature, as well as the time of sunrise and sunset, and the night temperature level. Changes occur gently, without stressful spikes. Program the mode change time within max. 3 h.
The unit can be set on the Celcius or Farrenheit scale. You can also choose how to be notified when the set temperature is exceeded (heating alarm). In the app you can also set an individual PIN code to protect your own settings.
Wide power range
One heater for every aquarium – that’s how our Flow Heater BT can be described in a nutshell. The precise controller sets the water warming to exactly the level you need. The power changes with one click in intervals of 50 watts. The power range is very wide – from 50 to as much as 500 watts!
Aquael advice
Acquired the urge to replace your aquarium with a larger model, or are you replacing your stocking with warm-loving species? Flow Heater BT will be perfect for the growing needs and increased ambitions of the aquarist. The wide power range allows you to easily transfer the heater to a larger tank, without having to spend money on another piece of equipment. Smart!
Additional functionality derived from BT settings
In Fixed mode you will precisely set the temperature and maximum power of the heater.
But that’s not all of its capabilities. The Flow Heater BT is also equipped with a Day&Night mode. This is a technology that brings the conditions in the tank as close as possible to those found in nature and works in harmony with the rhythm of changes occurring in nature. It is possible to vary the temperature in the tank to that of daytime, but also lowering gently after nightfall, when in natural conditions the warmth in the basin drops.
Thermometer function and measurement history
The app works like a mobile thermometer. The main display shows the current temperature in the tank. The reading is precise – to one decimal place. Any unwanted changes you will immediately see on your phone.
In addition, you can track the history of heating changes. In the ”history” tab there is a preview of the operation of a particular heater. You can observe heating changes up to 7 days back.
Intelligent power selection
Flow Heater BT is equipped with Smart Heating System (SHS). This is a technology for intelligent power adjustment. With SHS, the heating power automatically adjusts to maintain the desired temperature in the aquarium.
This is taken care of by a microprocessor located inside. This mechanism translates into smooth operation of the heater. Forget about temperature spikes in the aquarium and thus stress for its inhabitants.
Precise temperature
Thanks to the appropriate systems, the device consumes only the necessary amount of energy to properly heat the tank. The heated water evenly fills the entire aquarium. This is because the device is located on the outlet hose of the external filter.
On your smartphone you will check not only the programmed, but also the current water temperature. Thus, the heater can also be used as a thermometer, which, in addition, you can carry with you all the time.
Flow Heater BT works with an accuracy of ± 0.1°C. The temperature range is wide – from 20°C to 33°C. You will set the temperature conveniently on your phone’s screen literally in one movement. You will appreciate the ability to simply increase the temperature in specific situations, such as when treating certain fish diseases. Then there may be warmer conditions, which will make the treatment go faster and more effectively.
You will not overheat the aquarium in case of any malfunction. A special system will inform you of unwanted changes. Electronic sensors will automatically turn off the device in conditions of no flow.
Freedom of arrangement
Flow Heater BT mounts outside the aquarium, on the outlet hose of the canister filter. As a result, the heater does not take up space inside, which gives more freedom of arrangement. This will especially work well, for example, in natural aquariums, where creators want to imitate the natural aquatic environment as much as possible.
The heater will find use in both freshwater and marine aquariums. It does not need to be submerged in water, and therefore worry about the possible corrosive effects of salt water. It will also benefit paludarium or aquaterrarium enthusiasts.
Aquael advice
Does your tank have really big needs? Install more than 1 Flow Heater BT – on both outlet hoses of the Hypermax BT filter or in all buckets if your aquarium supports more than just one filter.
Versatile use thanks to the heater’s power settings in the app
The heater will satisfy lovers of small, but also quite large tanks. Depending on the liters and needs of your aquarium, you can choose a specific temperature to which the water will be reheated. This solution allows you to use the same heater equally well for smaller and larger aquariums. Thanks to its versatility, the Flow Heater BT will be perfect for aquariums as small as 60 to as large as 1,000 liters.
The heater can be mounted on hoses with a diameter of 16/22 mm or 19/25. This is made possible by interchangeable breakers, perfectly matched to the size of the hoses.
Safety and convenience
Flow Heater BT perfectly protects the tank from overheating. This is watched over by up to 5 electronic temperature sensors. When they detect that the water has stopped flowing through the heater, the device will automatically turn off.
We manufacture the heaters from high-quality materials at our factory in Suwalki. We carefully adhere to strict European safety standards and adapt production to any updates. This guarantees the highest quality and precision of our heaters. What’s more, we test and calibrate each piece of the device in the Aquael laboratory.
Convenience of heater installation
We thought to make the environment around your aquarium as tidy as possible. If you want, you can additionally attach the heater housing in two ways:
- Use the strong suction cups and attach the heater to the outer surface of the aquarium glass.
- After removing the suction cups, you can attach the equipment, for example, to the inside of the sub-aquarium cabinet (screws not included)
For Flow Heater BT we recommend the following accessories:

Signaling of heater operation problems
- STATUS LED glows yellow with a steady light -> the heater is not heating.
What should be done?
Steady yellow light means that the heater is switched to inactive mode – for example, for the time of aquarium service. In this case, connect to the heater via the dedicated Aqauel BT app and activate the heating function in it to the desired temperature (switch to the working mode).
- The STATUS LED flashes yellow -> a temperature alarm has occurred on the heater (previously set by the user in the app), because the water temperature has exceeded certain standards (it is too low or too high).
What should be done?
a) Change the specified alarm settings (e.g., the alarm is set to 24°C, and the room where the tank is located is 25°C; because of this, the water in the tank will not be able to cool down below the ambient temperature).
b) If the water temperature is too high, wait until the temperature in the tank naturally decreases, which will cause the heater to return to normal operation.
c) If the water temperature is too low (for example, after adding cold water to the tank), wait for the heater to heat the water and exit the alarm mode. It may also be that the heater has a power setting that is too low for the capacity of the tank to effectively reheat the water, which may also result in the heater entering alarm mode due to the water temperature being too low.
If this alarm recurs frequently and persistently, contact the service center. This may suggest damage to the heating module in the product.
- STATUS LED shines solid red -> heater overheating.
What should be done?
Exceeding the permissible temperature of the heating module of the device. This results in the activation of the hardware protection and switching off the heating module.
Wait until the device cools down spontaneously and returns to normal operation. Check if the cause of overheating of the device is due to other factors, e.g. the water flow through the heater is too low, the water flow through the heater does not occur due to the failure of the filter. If the flow through the heater is correct and the overheating problem persists, contact service.
- STATUS LED flashes red light -> the heater indicates system failure.
What should be done?
Such a message indicates a hardware failure of the heater. Requires contacting the service center.
